Pasta gratin
with Kochkäse
and smocked bacon

  1. Cook the pasta “al dente” according to the instructions on the packet, then drain.
  2. Meanwhile, peel the onion and cut it into small pieces.
  3. Fry the bacon cubes in a  frying pan, without adding any fat, until they are golden brown. Add the onion and sweat it until it is translucent.
  4. Add the plain Kochkäse and the whipping cream. Season with salt and pepper, stir and simmer for a few minutes over low heat.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200° C on the grill setting.
  6. Arrange the pasta in an ovenproof dish. Pour the Kochkäse sauce over the top.
  7. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and grated parmesan. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes, until the surface is well browned.
